My last post (Day 6) was posted on December 7th, and here I am, four days later, getting around to writing Day 7. I had a big dog show this weekend, with friends in town from Georgia, Wisconsin and Springfield, and I literally had no time to write…or to go to the gym…or to ride my horse. However, due to the enormous convention center and the amount of moving around I had to do, my Polar watch indicates that I nonetheless exceeded my fitness goals for each day since my last post.
Here is my progress so far for December:
I did take today off, but I am back at it as of tomorrow.
The weekend was really good. I had a great time with my friends and their Sloughis. My dogs did well at the show (my Sammy finished his AKC Championship at 9 months of age), and the wins were spread around among many dogs and owners, which makes it more fun for all of us.
The dogs just finished a warm supper of spiced venison braised with apples and oranges, courtesy of my friend, Donna, who brought me several bags of venison scraps that she gets from a hunter-friend of hers. We, on the other hand, had parmesan crusted chicken and a Mediterranean salad. (Yes, their supper smelled better than ours.)
I was interviewed by Mark Brown at the Chicago Sun-Times for a piece he did on the new Illinois “pet custody” statute that takes effect on January 1st. You can read it here, if you are interested.
I am beginning to plan our Christmas dinner menu, and I am still immersed in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and the scale is still subbornly refusing to budge again. On that note, I wish you good night!
