60 Days…Day 2

Today I felt extremely tired from yesterday and I did not go to the gym.  I did ride Filigree, but even my ride was less energetic than yesterday’s.  Here it is:

So, I did something, but not much.  Tomorrow, the horses get the day off, but I will go running.

Andrew came out and took some more photos of Filigree today, so I’ll include them below.

Some people have messaged me privately asking about the bridle that Fili was wearing yesterday. No, it is not a double bridle.  It is similar to an elevator snaffle with three rings so that you can use leverage if you need it.  I am recovering from a shoulder injury (both my rotator cuff and my biceps tendon) and I put that bridle on her just in case she got unexpectedly strong in the bridle and I needed emergency brakes.  However, she has been extremely good since coming back into work, extremely soft in the bridle and responsive, and I do not need anything stronger.  (When I rode Filigree last summer, she almost bucked me off in the pasture and then smashed into my nose with her neck and gave me a bloody nose.)

Today I put her into her Micklem bridle, which was designed to be extremely gentle and to not put pressure on any of the most sensitive structures in a horse’s face.  She is also going now in a simple loose ring snaffle bit.  I love the Micklem. I got both of mine from my friends at Horse and Pony Tack from the lovely and sweet Carol Rennolds.

Weight the same today.  I will be working harder tomorrow.  Oh, one more thing.  I am trying to drink at least 90 ounces of water per day. I am way behind today, but I will drink lots now.

You can click on any of the photos below to see it bigger 🙂  Happy Sunday y’all!
